Academy 411’s kids jiu-jitsu classes are a great way to give your kids life long skills in self-defence, discipline, and confidence in a welcoming environment. Our coaches are all highly qualified so that our children’s jiu jitsu classes remain safe and fun, while still allowing kids to learn valuable techniques.
Our kids jiu jitsu memberships are designed to help all kids, big and small, get involved! Sign up for a 10-class package or a casual session. We have full membership options where you can pay weekly, bi-annually, or annually.
We also offer classes for students and adults too, so the whole family can learn Brazilian jiu jitsu! You can easily make it a fun family bonding experience!
At Academy 411, we teach children many of the same techniques the adults learn, in an environment that is extra safe, so kids can gain confidence and build skills as they grow and improve. Brazilian jiu jitsu is an excellent martial art to learn, not just for self-defence but for fitness and discipline. It significantly benefits their ability to focus during physical challenges.
All of Academy 411’s kids jiu jitsu coaches have working with children checks, as well as first aid and CPR training so that our classes are as safe as possible. We also have the most advanced mat space in the eastern suburbs with 140sqm available so that everyone has plenty of room to move around.
We make sure that kids aren’t thrown into the deep end at Academy 411, with classes designed to start kids off with the fundamentals of movement and body positioning, before building up basic techniques so that they can feel confident at each step. Learning new skills can be a challenge for young children so we aim to make our classes as fun and engaging as possible so they have a great time and can’t wait to come back!
Once your kid/s have caught the Brazilian jiu jitsu bug, we make sure that they’re supported along the way in their journey. Our coaches regularly compete and we coach at an elite level, so we can certainly help kids develop advanced skills and techniques, and aid in getting them ready for competition if that’s their goal.
Brazilian jiu jitsu kids classes teach valuable life skills, giving kids the tools they need to improve their focus in stressful situations and also improve their physical fitness in a safe environment. This new ability to focus extends further than just martial arts—it can carry over to how they focus in school and other academic settings, too. Another benefit of Brazilian jiu jitsu is the confidence that can be gained from having self-defence skills, and being able to use leverage and technique to overcome much larger opponents.
Unlike Japanese jiu jitsu, which is a more traditional martial art with strikes and throws, BJJ focuses on using leverage and techniques to teach you the skills needed to defend yourself against larger opponents. This means our Brazilian jiu jitsu for adults is fantastic for building strength, as well as confidence in your own ability to defend yourself.
Keen to learn Brazilian jiu jitsu but already working out at another gym? We have a special ‘traitor’ membership that lets you join as many classes as you like, without taking part in gradings or promotions. Keep yourself fit and learn new skills at your own pace without giving up traditional gym workouts!
We work hard to create the most positive environment for kids, with both coaches and students ready to support each other and build each other up as they progress through their jiu jitsu journey.

Every child is different, and so the best time to start can vary, however, we offer classes for kids as young as three years old.
Children's jiu jitsu is a great way to introduce kids to fitness, letting them train their strength, mobility, flexibility, and endurance with consistent hard work.
It’s important not to over-work children, as their bodies are constantly growing, so attending classes a few times a week is a good frequency.
Kids jiu jitsu is ideal for building confidence as it lets kids feel more in tune with their bodies, learn self-defence skills, and improve their strength.
Jiu jitsu can be a good way to let go of frustration, and by teaching discipline and respect, they learn to control their anger and channel it into physical fitness.

None of the cultish or autocratic behaviour of some other bjj gyms. High level, and always teaching the meta of current grappling combined with great fundamentals. Some Of the best coaches available in Aus. Couldn’t be happier to be training here in Sydney.Posted on Alberto Mangas7 April 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I joined Academy 411 last year having never tried Jiu jitsu before, the owners/staff immediately made me feel at home and comfortable. The gym is one of the most welcoming environments I’ve ever had the pleasure of being apart of and 411 feels like a family. On top of that the coaches are constantly adapting techniques/game-plans to be on top of the constantly evolving sport that modern jiu jitsu has become allowing members to evolve with the sport and constantly up their game. 10/10 would recommend also neurodivergent friendly 😎Posted on Maab18 March 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Academy 411 has been an incredible addition to my jits routine. They offer a "Traitor Membership," which is perfect for those who already train elsewhere but want to supplement their training with quality sessions (me). The gym facilities itself are top-tier with great matspace, an aesthetic vibe and some of the cleanest bathrooms I’ve seen at a jits gym. There’s a strong competition focus with a diverse range of athletes, from hobbyists to serious competitors, making every session a great mix of technical work and hard rounds. Also super nice and friendly peeps. I train both gi and nogi here, and both programs are solid, with a good balance of instruction and intensity. An excellent place to train. Highly recommend for anyone looking to cross-train!Posted on Kogar Cetinich15 March 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
